November 9, 2011 Obama Attacks Fed Promo Product SpendFiled under: Community, News About ASI As you may have already seen, President Obama has announced a mandate to cut 20% from federal agency spending on “plaques, clothing, and other unnecessary promotional items.” The cuts are designed to trim the government’s “wasteful spending.” We are undertaking an aggressive PR campaign to immediately educate the media and others to help the general public, as well as political leaders, understand the importance of our industry: job creation, promotional products’ incredible ROI and why our industry’s output and value shouldn’t be called “wasteful spending.” We’re calling on everyone to reach out to their senators and congressmen – they need to hear from each of us, collectively and individually. I am sending a letter directly to President Obama. Below are talking points you might consider in a letter to the editor of your local paper and to your senator or your representative.
You can find your senators here. Click here to find and write your U.S. representative. We’ll provide additional information and guidance in coming days as we continue to learn more and evaluate ways to effectively respond. Let me know what action you’re taking and if you have any other suggestions by posting a comment or e-mailing me here. 7 CommentsLeave a Comment |

Thank you! I’ll be taking action over the next couple of days as well.
Q:If the Smallest room in the White house is the Oval Office, what is the Biggest Room?
A: Room for Improvement.
We just wrote an e-mail to our U.S. Rep. Steve Womack with our disapproval of this mandate.
I went to high school with my Congressman here in Colorado. I just sent off my letter to him. Real jobs, real people will be impacted. Want to save huge amts of money, get us out of the wars!
Tackling the big spending head on ! Wow Mr.”Misrepresent”, only $14,897,567,894.16 to go.
Way to get a handle on our spending deficit…where were you when you had this nirvana moment…planning another stimulus waste, trip to The Vineyard ?
Maybe if the big B.O. would cut 20% of his vacations or separate planes for the dog or cut out greenies like Solyndra or put logo’s on the next gun butts going across the border they could leave peaceable businesses fighting tooth and nail to stay in business “alone”. I’ll take an additional 15% on my next live Christmas Tree scrooge.
ASI wants us to write our reps in DC about this man’s impact on our industry, YET we put a picture of him in polital campaign possibilities for promo items on the Front Page of ESP WEB?
Who made the biggest blunder here?
