ASI Computer Opens Iowa Office Space to Members

Filed under: Community, Industry Initiatives, Members

As you might have read a few days ago, ASI Computer is based in Cedar Falls, Iowa, one of the areas struck by horrible flooding.

Fortunately, our offices there have not been impacted by flooding.

We are offering use of our offices to any ASI distributor, supplier or decorator in the Cedar Falls area whose own office or home office has been flooded and is unavailable for use.  We have 12 cubicles and a conference room available, but no warehouse space.

There will be no fee for the space, and we will accommodate as many people as possible — for a few hours, a day, or as long as a month — to help get businesses going again among flood victims in the ASI distributor-supplier-decorator network.

In addition, the Cohn Family and ASI have made a $25,000 cash contribution to the American Red Cross that’s earmarked for flood relief services.  The Cohn Family and ASI will make a second $20,000 donation when total industry contributions reach $100,000.  Visit http://american.redcross.org/ and designate your gift to the Disaster Relief Fund.  Any amount will help and is greatly appreciated, as officials said recently that this fund is empty and needs to be replenished.  To ensure your gift is counted by ASI, fax a copy of your donation receipt to Mark Quinn, chief financial officer, at 215-953-3908.  Or mail it to Mark at Advertising Specialty Institute, 4800 Street Road, Trevose, PA 19053.

To check space availability at our Cedar Falls office, please call David Wirth, president of ASI Computer, at 319-266-7688, or email him at davew@asicomp.com and copy me at tim.andrews@asicentral.com

Please forward this email to ASI members in Iowa who might be using a personal email address during this difficult period.

Filed under: Education, Guest Blog, Members, Using Ad Specialties

From Joe Haley, Managing Editor at ASI:

It was bound to happen. Sooner or later we knew it would; the popularity of ASI TV and shows like The Joe Show have taken the online nation by storm. And, in the process have created copycats. Major media outlets with online presences like CNN, MSNBC and CBS, to name a few, have started to include video reports and features on their sites.

New Contest – Chance for a Free ASI Membership and $250

Filed under: Members, News About ASI

Today we launched a new contest – ‘Why I Love My ASI Membership.’

Twelve current ASI members will be selected at random from qualified entries to receive one free year of ASI basic membership, and a $250 American Express gift card – good as cash.

Winners will also be featured in Counselor magazine and on a special Website, at www.TheNumberThatMatters.com.

The contest came about when ASI members told us in a recent survey that, without a doubt, they love their ASI membership because it helps them do more business. The survey proves that ASI has the number that matters in the advertising specialty industry – your ASI membership number.

We just announced that the ASI Show! in Philadelphia is moving to New York City.

I’m excited about this because I worked in New York City on and off for more than 16 years and I know that the energy of New York will provide one of the most dynamic trade shows ever for the industry.

In addition to the show floor, there will be great places to eat, network, socialize, and do business.

Show dates – same as originally scheduled for Philadelphia – and other information is in the following media release from Matthew Cohn, president of ASI Show!. Also visit www.asishow.com>.

ASI Acquires TEAM Task Force, Canada – More Sales for Firms – Listen to Conference Call

Filed under: Industry Initiatives, Members, News About ASI, Using Ad Specialties

Leslie, Fred and I hosted an industry conference call about ASI Canada on Wednesday, Sept. 5.

Distributors, suppliers and decorators in Canada have been asking me for more ways to connect and do more business, and U.S. customers have expressed an interest in doing more business with companies in Canada. I believe that there are also many untapped opportunities in Canada for U.S.-based suppliers and distributors and ASI intends to help companies discover those.

Suppliers can Update Product and Pricing Information for Buyers

Filed under: Members, News About ASI

Suppliers tell me that they appreciate all the work ASI does entering all of their product information and pricing from their catalogs, marketing materials and websites into ESP Online and LogoMall websites for distributors.

But many have asked me for the ability to update pricing themselves or to tweak the product descriptions as needed.

So today we’re launching a new easy-to-use database tool that enables ASI suppliers to easily update their product and pricing information in ESP Online.

The new feature complements ASI’s large staff of editors, who will continue to enter the vast majority of information for the 750,000 products in ESP Online. In addition to their work, suppliers will be able to review and edit product information and pricing, ensuring their information is as current as possible.
