March 14, 2007 What a Year | Ad Specialties Top $18.6 Billion in 2006 – Up 4.5%Filed under: Industry Initiatives, News About ASI Wow. This was quite a year for advertising specialties! (And I’m not usually one for hyperbole, or exclamation points, as my staff knows.) ASI just released the results of its annual industry sales analysis, indicating revenues topped $18.6 billion in 2006 – up 4.5 percent from 2005 and a new record. Congratulations to everyone! What this means is that spending on advertising specialties was almost twice as large as Internet display advertising, nearly five times greater than outdoor advertising and more than cable TV advertising* for the same period, even outpacing the 3.4% growth rate for the United States GDP. Impressive, by any measure.

March 8, 2007 Ad Specialties on MSNBC | Better Industry ExposureFiled under: Education, Industry Initiatives, Media Coverage, News About ASI, Using Ad Specialties In last October’s Counselor magazine I wrote about how I’m often contacted by distributors and suppliers who are frustrated that our industry doesn’t get more media coverage to educate reporters and end-buyers about using advertising specialties.

February 16, 2007 ASI is Upgrading Business SystemsFiled under: News About ASI We’ve been working on upgrading our business systems at ASI so we can better serve you, and today we’re starting to use our new system. I’m proud of what we’ve accomplished and thousands of hours of planning and hard work have been invested by many ASI employees to make this happen. But what does it mean for you? This upgraded system will allow us to provide you with timely and accurate membership information, access to more tools to answer your questions about your ASI account, and have the ability to more quickly provide products and services to you. It will also produce a redesigned and easier-to-understand invoice.

February 13, 2007 Show Buzz From Dallas with Video | Where’s 2007 Heading?Filed under: News About ASI
Coming off of the heels of record-breaking attendance in Orlando, last week’s Dallas show had its own share of buzz, with ASI Show president Matthew Cohn telling me late Friday that more than 3,700 distributors attended – up 12% from last year and a new Dallas Show record. See and hear more about this show in an amateur video I made from the ASI booth. On Education Day alone, nearly 800 people attended a variety of seminars, sessions and trainings. That’s a great sign, because we’re all better off when distributors spend time learning about the industry, how to service clients, and ways to make their businesses more productive and more profitable.

January 22, 2007 From Dusseldorf to Orlando, Colin Powell to Bold FashionsFiled under: News About ASI Who said there are too many shows? It’s been quite a year so far. Since the beginning of January, I’ve been on the road practically 100% of the time at shows and visiting with ASI distributors and suppliers. I always love hearing about people’s businesses and learning all I can about what challenges they face and how ASI might be able to help. I don’t want to go on and on, but I thought I would highlight some of the recent shows I have attended and share my views, observations, opinions and general information.

January 18, 2007 Live From Orlando – Top Ten Ways to be More Successful – Listen inFiled under: Industry Initiatives, News About ASI ASI Show in Orlando kicked off today – with registered attendance over 4,000 – and for Education Day I provided the keynote address to about 300 distributors and suppliers at the Orlando Convention Center.
I spoke about my “Top Ten Ways to be More Successful” and what I believe are ten vital elements that can help define your success in the advertising specialty business and outside of work. Many of these points could be things you’re doing already and may help spark your thinking about how you can inspire clients and how people view your brand – which is very important. |
