{"id":1560,"date":"2012-03-29T15:58:15","date_gmt":"2012-03-29T19:58:15","guid":{"rendered":"http:\/\/timandrewsblog-asicentral.com\/timblog\/?p=1560"},"modified":"2012-03-29T15:58:15","modified_gmt":"2012-03-29T19:58:15","slug":"red-letter-day-for-charity","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/timandrewsblog-asicentral.com\/timblog\/2012\/03\/29\/red-letter-day-for-charity\/","title":{"rendered":"Red Letter Day for Charity"},"content":{"rendered":"<p>Every year, ASI\u2019s administrative staff <img decoding=\"async\" class=\"right\" src=\"http:\/\/timandrewsblog-asicentral.com\/timblog\/wp-content\/uploads\/images\/RC1.jpg\" alt=\"\" \/>puts together a wonderful silent auction to raise money for the <a href=\"http:\/\/www.redcross.org\/\" target=\"_blank\">American Red Cross<\/a> using sample promotional products sent by suppliers and featured in <a href=\"http:\/\/www.asicentral.com\/asp\/open\/magazines.aspx\" target=\"_blank\">ASI magazines<\/a>.<\/p>\n<p>Last year, ASI employees raised $1,762. But this month, they raised a record-breaking $3,000 \u2013 a total ASI Chairman of the Board Norman Cohn is matching through the <a href=\"http:\/\/www.unitedway.org\/\" target=\"_blank\">United Way<\/a>, for a grand total of $6,000 to be donated to our local Red Cross chapter.<\/p>\n<p>The Red Cross, our nation\u2019s premier emergency response organization and biggest blood bank, also offers neutral humanitarian care to the victims of war and compassionate services that help the needy and provide support and comfort for military members and their families.<\/p>\n<p>Such services are dear to everyone\u2019s heart at ASI. Since 2003, company fundraisers have raised nearly $2 million in cash and goods for worthy causes, including the Adopt-A-Family program, and food banks and homeless shelters in or around company headquarters in Bucks County, PA.<\/p>\n<p>At this year\u2019s auction, employees had an amazing array of products to choose from, including an Oakley \u201cKitchen Sink\u201d backpack, a wooden chess set, bottle of wine and a cheese board.<\/p>\n<p>The biggest hit of the two-day auction: grab bags full of miscellaneous samples that sold for $3 each, for a total of 140 sold, raising $420.<\/p>\n<p>It just goes to show you \u2013 everyone likes cool products and hot bargains!<\/p>\n<p>What charities does your company regularly contribute to, and how creative have you gotten in devising fundraisers?
