{"id":2173,"date":"2013-02-08T19:20:07","date_gmt":"2013-02-08T23:20:07","guid":{"rendered":"http:\/\/timandrewsblog-asicentral.com\/timblog\/?p=2173"},"modified":"2013-02-08T19:20:07","modified_gmt":"2013-02-08T23:20:07","slug":"dallas-show-ends-on-high-energy-note","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/timandrewsblog-asicentral.com\/timblog\/2013\/02\/08\/dallas-show-ends-on-high-energy-note\/","title":{"rendered":"Dallas Show Ends on High-Energy Note"},"content":{"rendered":"<p>The Dallas show that closed Friday attracted over 500 top suppliers and 16 team-building distributor sales meetings, including <em>Counselor<\/em><sup>\u00ae<\/sup><em> <\/em>Top 40 distributor American Solutions for Business\u2019 winter conference.<br \/>\n<a href=\"http:\/\/www.asishow.com\/\" target=\"_blank\"><img decoding=\"async\" class=\"right\" src=\"http:\/\/timandrewsblog-asicentral.com\/timblog\/wp-content\/uploads\/images\/promo2.jpg\" alt=\"\" \/><\/a><br \/>\nAll told, ASI Dallas \u2013 the largest industry event in the Southwest \u2013 drew 3,645 distributors and 510 suppliers (including 56 exhibiting for the first time in Dallas).<\/p>\n<p>All of us at the show got incredible feedback, which is always great to hear. It\u2019s clear a ton of deals took place on the show floor and during numerous networking opportunities. Here\u2019s a small sampling of reactions:<\/p>\n<p>Barry Lipsett, CEO of Charles River Apparel (<em>asi\/44620<\/em>): \u201cWe did so well we are going to double the size of our booth next year!\u201d<br \/>\n<a href=\"http:\/\/www.asishow.com\/\" target=\"_blank\"><img decoding=\"async\" class=\"left\" src=\"http:\/\/timandrewsblog-asicentral.com\/timblog\/wp-content\/uploads\/images\/gilleys.jpg\" alt=\"\" \/><\/a><\/p>\n<p>Larry Zavadil, CEO of American Solutions for Business (<em>asi<\/em>\/<em>120075<\/em>): \u201cASI Education has been great, and we found tons of ideas on the show floor. Every vendor we\u2019ve come across has a unique solution to offer.\u201d<\/p>\n<p>Gabe McGraw, from Gold Bond (<em>asi\/57653<\/em>):<em> <\/em>\u201cDistributors are coming in with a list, which makes it easy because that translates into orders and everybody benefits. We\u2019ve been so happy with ASI Dallas \u2013 in fact, with all of <em>The <\/em><em>ASI<\/em><em> Shows<\/em> \u2013 because they\u2019re really big producers for us.\u201d<\/p>\n<p>The show was such a hit it even attracted the local news. Fox featured ASI Dallas on its Wednesday broadcast, showing off many of the hottest products at the show (despite the unfortunate use of the word \u201cswag\u201d).<\/p>\n<p>On Friday, we kicked off the final day with a wonderful keynote by three-time Super Bowl champion and 2006 \u201cDancing with the Stars\u201d winner <a href=\"http:\/\/www.emmittsmith.com\/\" target=\"_blank\">Emmitt Smith<\/a>, who advised a packed house on successful small business strategies (see pic).<br \/>\n<a href=\"http:\/\/www.asishow.com\/\" target=\"_blank\"><img decoding=\"async\" class=\"right\" src=\"http:\/\/timandrewsblog-asicentral.com\/timblog\/wp-content\/uploads\/images\/emmitt.jpg\" alt=\"\" \/><\/a><\/p>\n<p>He was such a nice guy he even posted a photo of the two of us on his Facebook page. It\u2019s amazing to me how many of our keynote speakers turn out to be so gracious. Maybe they know how lucky they are \u2013 and how lucky we are to have them share their fascinating experiences and secrets of success!<\/p>\n<p>As we reported in a special show edition of <em>Counselor<\/em><sup>\u00ae<\/sup> <em>Promogram<\/em><sup>\u00ae<\/sup>, Smith\u2019s main message was: \u201cBe bold with your goals.\u201d<\/p>\n<p>\u201cYour attitude determines your altitude,\u201d he told attendees. \u201cYou have to believe in yourself and your own abilities to be able to reach new heights. But, the only way to get there is to write those goals down. It\u2019s only a dream until you write it down. As you can see from the picture of our happy bull-rider, the industry came together at a boisterous Gala Celebration on Thursday night at the world-famous Gilley\u2019s, the inspiration for the John Travolta\/Debra Winger blockbuster \u201cUrban Cowboy.\u201d<\/p>\n<p>I\u2019m always on the lookout for Hoosiers and was thrilled to spot John Burr at the show (pictured in the Indiana tee shirt with me). John\u2019s an account executive with American Solutions for Business. I first met him 6-7 years ago at an ASI show in Philadelphia and he\u2019s now working in Pleasantville, NY. In many ways, that\u2019s the best part of any show: making \u2013 and renewing \u2013 connections.<\/p>\n<p>Fortunately, many of the people who attended the show are from the Southwest, so they didn\u2019t have any trouble getting home. But many of us who planned to head back to the Philadelphia-NJ area are being delayed by the \u201cNemo\u201d blizzard. I hope everyone Back East stays warm, dry and safe and that everyone traveling gets home OK.
