{"id":2519,"date":"2013-11-21T12:29:12","date_gmt":"2013-11-21T16:29:12","guid":{"rendered":"http:\/\/timandrewsblog-asicentral.com\/timblog\/?p=2519"},"modified":"2013-11-21T12:29:12","modified_gmt":"2013-11-21T16:29:12","slug":"the-era-of-innovation","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/timandrewsblog-asicentral.com\/timblog\/2013\/11\/21\/the-era-of-innovation\/","title":{"rendered":"The Era of Innovation"},"content":{"rendered":"<p>Thanks to strong Q3 results, distributor and supplier sales in the promotional products industry have now risen for 15 straight quarters, which is solid proof that companies big and small continue to buy what we\u2019re selling: The enduring power of promotional products.<\/p>\n<p>These days, ideas and innovations are what make the world go \u2019round. <em>Bloomberg Businessweek s<\/em>ays we need look no further than Twitter\u2019s $24.9 billion valuation as evidence we\u2019ve officially entered the \u201cideas economy.\u201d Lucky for us, ideas and innovations are at the heart of this industry, where new products coupled with inventive branding can hit the market \u2013 and seize the imagination \u2013 faster than ever before.<a title=\"ASI sales research\" href=\"http:\/\/www.asicentral.com\/asp\/open\/Research\/IndustrySales\/default.aspx\" target=\"_blank\"><img decoding=\"async\" class=\"right\" src=\"http:\/\/timandrewsblog-asicentral.com\/timblog\/wp-content\/uploads\/images\/econup.jpg\" alt=\"\" \/><\/a><\/p>\n<p>If we capitalize on innovation, as <em>Bloomberg<\/em> suggests, our industry will continue to grow. This year alone, if ASI\u2019s indicators are correct, total sales will surpass $20 billion. I know that anything \u2013 a political coup in a far-off land or even a devastating weather event \u2013 can cause unexpected economic havoc, but I\u2019m pretty comfortable in our predictions.<\/p>\n<p>What\u2019s your take on 2014? ASI\u2019s <em>Counselor<\/em> magazine recently asked Power 50 members if their companies would hire additional staff in the next year and 63% said they would. I take that as a strong indication of overall industry health. Is your company hiring? Are your clients spending more? Are you?<\/p>\n<p>As Dan Taylor, president of BamBams (asi\/38228), which increased sales by 8.5% this year, told ASI: \u201cI think the value factor of promotional products in the marketing space has contributed to this growth. Companies are working hard to expand, so there is a need for advertising in the marketplace.\u201d<\/p>\n<p>Today, promotional products are used by virtually every business and major brand in America, and for good reason: They work!
